Catechism

Statement: The cat miaouws.

Question: Why does the cat miaouw?

Response: Because he suffers.

Q: Why does the cat suffer?

R: Because he has tasted of heaven, and heaven is fish, and shrimp, and crab, mixed unto a mess of tasty feasting.

Q: But why does the taste of heaven cause him to suffer?

R: Because he no longer tastes it, and it is gone from his presence.

Statement: And if it is gone forever, but he has hope of it, then that is hell.

Hiatus Redux

It's been a long time that I've been away from this blog, and there are still many holes in it. The holes are to be filled from a drawer of little paper stubs with writing on them, the drawer being real and also virtual, and the paper likewise.

As I write (or type, or otherwise compose for viewing) this short piece, I think of how difficult it must have been in the past to transfer one's trivial or otherwise quotidian thoughts to someone else. You'd have had to compose them carefully, and the recipient to receive them thoughtfully. You would not have had the throwaway ease of the electronic note, or even of paper, in past eras.

And here we are, generations succeedingly more deprived of the ability to focus our attention on information and its construction. Sometimes, there must be long gaps of peace amidst the tumult of our war.
