I used to be able to clear up to seven books a day. I would drift through the house with a book held firmly in my left hand, its spine clamped between thumb and forefinger to prevent unsightly cracking. With my right, I would do chores, take meals, fend off my siblings, turn the pages. And in such wise, I would consume books by the pile.
Sadly, it is not so easy now.
Nowadays, I am fortunate if I do two books in three days, four in a week. I shall take leave in late November, and in the days of the dying year, I will try my best to clear my piles. Attention to the fundamentals, that's the thing.

goodevening sir
Singapore's so small and we're such a close knit community, you would except those debate circuit girls in RGS to recognise your very interesting pseudonym.
Anyway, your blog is really interesting, you write really well. I hear you teach the subject Chemistry, and are a "really intelligent man". Hoho, obviously not notorious, but held high on a pedestal!
I'm sure I will enjoy being a "faithful reader" of your blog in time to come, unless you mind of course. God bless and take care, O valiant one of the Singapore labryinth!
Thank you for tagging, sir. (I am 15, formality imbues my veins!) :)
Btw, nice title, and I forgot to sign off!

haha that's still a considerable amount... most of our generation will be lucky if we read one good book every 2 weeks... or even a month... haha!
Hallo. 'sme, Anonymous again. The Phantom Commenter. And BS, speak for yourself. I've got two years on you and I clear two per day easily. Running out of books worthy of my interest though. I am afraid, Mr Autolycus, that one of those despoiled pieces of paper would be mine. Unless you are inflicting your humble red pen upon the Secondary Threes; in that case, no. I read books much the same way, to prevent any colour-cracks along the book's spine-this has been a constant point of contention among the many fortunate souls I end up lending my treasures to(precious...my precious...). They refuse to respect it. I refuse to respect them. The cycle continues.
Perhaps it shall be broken one day. Who knows?
ahahax the omnipresent influence eh sir =Pp small world indeed. oh well time for the rejuvenation of the hols eh =) tata!
Hello Sir
Oh yes, and what did you mean by "da guys were right"? :S
Don't be disheartened by the lack of time for reading, don't let Ennui consume you! Be filled with a thirst for erudition!
And it is indeed not a small amount - four books in a week.

Hey Sir
Sorry, just to ask you, what did you mean when you said "da guys are right"?
Oh and thanks for your tag as well, Kaleni said I am too formal =P I like your style of writing a lot, it's very sincere and very poetic. Not verbose or seemingly out to impress, but the lilting tone is really uplifting.
I was meaning to say. Jacques Derrida has passed away? Aren't you mourning? =(
