Medusa

It wasn't really her fault, you know. Poseidon seduced her, she was cursed, the rest of the story was mostly unfortunate, almost completely unfair.

And having a head covered in snakes can't have been very pleasant. The stench must have been awful.

The more I think of it, the sorrier I feel for that poor gorgon.

I saw Prometheus Bound last night at my school. It seems the Greek gods are generally just cruel and arbitrary.

Though I really wish we still had the second and third plays in that trilogy; it'd be interesting to see where Aeschylus went from there.

Yes, I agree with 'cruel and arbitrary', but only from a modern perspective. The Greeks were a cruel people, and they did believe that the Gods were arbiters, hence arbitrary. Somebody had to do it, and eventually Necessity (Ananke), the Fates (Moirae) and other Inescapables would do the Gods in anyway.

There are so many missing books. Sigh...
